Seeing Sunshine aims to make a positive impact on the attitudes of young New Zealanders with poor sun care practices.
My research sought to break the cycle of inter-generational sun baking by providing teachers a resource to promote good sun smart habits for their students.
This is essential in reducing the rate of melanoma in New Zealand in future years.
The outcome was a temporary tattoo that reacted with UVA & UVB (sun) rays to change to a bright red colour indicating sunburn.
Sunscreen can be applied over top of the tattoo. When the sunscreen has worn off and needs reapplication it will change to red again.
